Walking Dead Reminder

Just a reminder that the Walking Dead tv series premieres tonight on AMC. See the details here.

Trust me, this show is going to rival Mad Men and Breaking Bad.

More Cap Photos

As you can see by clicking here, there are a few more photos up from the upcoming Captain America movie.

Enjoy.

Captain America on the cover of EW

So are you excited to see Cap in all his star-spangled glory kick some Nazi ass next summer? Yeah, me too. Well, the folks over at Entertainment Weekly decided to put Chris Evans in costume on the cover:

Not too shabby. I like the way it looks kind of propaganda-ish. If you want to read more, and see a video interview Evans, Weaving, and the director, just click here.

Enjoy.

Chaplins Time Traveler?

Hmm....I don't think that's a cell phone, but I do think the guy has a pretty vivid imagination. What do you think?

It's Official!

Yeah, I finally have an official weblink to my page on Facebook. So if you've just stumbled across my blog and want the updates to my ramblings, links, non-sequiturs, weird videos, occasional artwork and just general mayhem, please feel free to hit the "like" button.

That is all.

Alexander Anderson Jr. R.I.P.

The creator of Rocket J. Squirrel (aka Rocky) and Bullwinkle, passed away on Friday at a nursing home while battling Alzheimer's. He was 90 years old.

Definitely an inspiration to cartoonists and animators everywhere. He will be missed.

Sorry I've been away for a while, but I was waylaid with a nasty cold that just doesn't want to let go. I'll try to post a bit more as I recover.

Panda Lips

So you know I always seek out the weirdly entertaining stuff. So what could be more weirdly entertaining than a woman who has painted her lips to look like a panda face?

Yeah, let the bamboo stick eating jokes fly!

Marvel Reveals Variant Covers of Various Comics to Promote Tron

Yeah, you read that right. Disney is using Marvel to pump out variant covers of the Marvel characters done up in Tron clothing. You can see it here. A few look kind of cool, but the rest are fairly odd.

One Step Closer to the Robot Apocalypse

So those wacky Japanese are at it again. It's not enough to give robots a creepy looking emotive face, but they had to go and teach these things to dance in lingerie.

Ironically, she can't do The Robot.

Paramount Hands Over Iron Man 3 and The Avengers to the House of Mouse

As you can see from this story, Disney did a little muscle flexing and got back a few Marvel properties. It still feels weird. I want the properties to be all under the Marvel banner, but I just don't like that rooting for Disney part to do it. It's like rooting for the Empire to win.

It makes me feel dirty and ashamed, and not in the good way. Anyway, here's some more Disney/Marvel mashups if you're not still tired of them.

R.I.P. Barbara Billingsley (aka June Cleaver)

*Sigh* Yet another one crosses over that threshold. At least she had a good run, and was well liked if not loved by everyone. CNN has a fairly nice article up. I prefer to remember one of her great comedy moments in movie history.

You will be missed, Big Mama.

Tron: Legacy Soundtrack by Daft Punk Now Available

Yup, those wacky guys have done the entire soundtrack to what I think is going to be an amazing movie. You can listen to the soundtrack here and order the soundtrack here.

Later tonight I'll see if I can upload the video footage I have from Comic Con where Daft Punk played an impromptu show in a little dive bar I was at with friends.

Proof that Johnny Depp is still a class act

A little girl wrote Depp asking if he'd come to her class to help "stage a mutiny". Well, Depp happened to be in town filming Pirates 4, and this is the result.

Very cool of him to do that for a fan. Not that this is the first time. A few years ago it was reported that he spent fours reading bedtime stories to patients at a hospital while dressed as Jack Sparrow. He had the costume flown in from L.A. especially to do this.

Halloween Costume Idea #234,836

So, you say your gf/wife/mistress/fwb/"special friend"/escort wants to dress up as something other than a slutty nurse or slutty vampire, or slutty maid for Halloween? Then howzabout Slutty Chewbacca? Or even a Slutty Stormtrooper? Or (and my personal favorite, and NOT because it looks like dominatrix gear) Slutty Darth Vader?

Yes, friends, you know that being a geek has become cool when they start making slutty Halloween costumes for women based on male characters of one of the geekiest sci-fi movies in existence.

Still, I'm disappointed that they weren't as creative as a Comic Con attendee who showed up as Booba Fett.

Enjoy.

Funny, in an Old-Timey way

Married To The Sea is a neat little site that takes old black and white drawings from years past, and re-captions them making them a little bit sassier. For example:

Art Challenge (or Art Exercise)

So I've been trying to get into watercolor painting for a little while now. I bought a book on the subject, dabbled very little with the paints and brushes, but now I want to get into it. So taking a little cue from comic book artist Ben Templesmith, I've created a simple line art drawing that I intend to work on with watercolors.

Now this is the part where you say, "Great, another wannabee artist is showing me his shitty finger paintings...again." Well, yes and no. See, Templesmith had this great idea to post the line art he was working on to let any Joe (or Jane) Schmoe have a crack at coloring, shading, etc. the piece in question, any way they wanted (PhotoShop, watercolor, acrylic, sand, fire, etc.) and then posted the results on his blog. So here's the challenge (or exercise), I'm going to post the (very simple) line art I did, you guys (and gals) work on it and post what you've done, and I will post my watercolor attempt up here in probably about a week.

Here's the line art (click on the picture for the full size version):

Yeah, it's good ole Robbie the Robot from Forbidden Planet. I'm actually shooting towards making a little collection of drawings of all the famous movie and tv sci-fi robots. Shoot me a question down in the comments section if you have any, or you can also get in touch with me on Facebook. Have at it, and have fun.

The Walking Dead Window Display

So, I finally finished the window display at The Comic Outpost over on Ocean Ave. in San Francisco. It's for the  new tv series coming out on AMC TV on Halloween, The Walking Dead. The series is based on a monthly comic being put out by Image comics, and it's highly recommended by me if you're interested in zombies, or post-apocalypse stories. Really good stuff. Anyway, enough with the plug, here are the pictures.

Halloween costume idea #234,629

Stuck for what to be for Halloween this year? Haven't given it much thought? Or just really don't want to be bothered by it? Introducing the Mark Zuckerberg mask. Who is Mark Zuckerberg you ask? He's the founder of Facebook and the subject of the new movie The Social Network.

Personally, I find his face a little too freaky for me, and the open mouth means that more than a few perverts are going to be doing weird things to it. Enjoy.

Comic Con to Stay in San Diego through 2015

Looks like San Diego is spared for now.

Comic Con stays in San Diego until 2015.
